How to Get Aged Care Worker Screening in NSW

Complete CHC43015 Qualification

Enroll in an ASQA-registered RTO offering CHC43015. Duration: 18-24 months including 120 hours of supervised work placement in a regulated aged care facility.

Choose Your Screening Type

You have two options in NSW:

• National Police Check: $42, valid 3 years. Apply via Service NSW. Suitable if you only plan to work in aged care.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check: $80, valid 5 years. Apply via NDIS Commission. Better value if you want to work in both aged care and disability support.

Submit Application

Apply online 6-8 weeks before your course completion. You'll need:

• • Proof of identity (driver's license, passport, birth certificate)
• • Residential address history (last 5 years)
• • Payment ($42 or $80 depending on screening type)

Wait for Clearance

Processing time: 6-8 weeks. You'll receive clearance via email. Keep a copy for employers. You cannot work in aged care until clearance is granted.

Start Working

Once cleared, you can apply for aged care positions across NSW. Your screening is valid for 3-5 years (depending on type) and recognized by all aged care providers in NSW.
